Achoo!!
It’s that time of year again. The sun is shining. Birds are singing. New life is frolicking around us. Honestly, it would probably be our favorite time of year. If it wasn’t for the pollen.
Did you know that 1 in 5 people will suffer from seasonal allergies at some point in their lives?
Seasonal allergies are one of the most common allergies you can suffer from. They’re caused by pollen, a fine powder released by plants as part of their reproductive cycle, and it contains proteins that can irritate the nose, eyes, throat and sinuses.
If you’re one of the unlucky many who deal with allergies around this time of year, our heart goes out to you. Don’t worry though, PUR is here to help! We can’t promise to get rid of your symptoms completely, but if you follow these tips and tricks, you might be able to enjoy this Season a little bit more. Just maybe don’t stop to smell the flowers too much.
Use a barrier on your nose
Your nasal passage is pollen's main gateway into your body. Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly around the opening of your nose and your nostrils will be able to trap pollen much easier, preventing it from travelling further into your body.
Get the shades on
Wearing the right sunglasses can be incredibly effective in combating the effects of allergies. Wraparound styles can help prevent pollen from reaching your eyes, which means you’re safe from any uncomfortable itching. Plus, they look pretty cool, so it’s a win-win.
Dry your clothes inside
We know, we know. The weather is improving and you want to take advantage by finally utilizing the washing line again. However, even a slight breeze can result in pollen clinging to your wardrobe. Try drying your clothes inside, because you won’t even be able to appreciate that outdoor scent if your nose is stuffed up.
Groom your pets
It’s not just your clothes you need to worry about! Pollen can also cling to the coats of your pets, meaning when they come inside, they’re bringing it with them. Try to give your pets a quick rub-down with a damp cloth before they come inside (even if they protest!).
Up Your Vitamin C Intake
Did you know Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine? Many people report that vitamin C helps to lessen their symptoms of seasonal allergies. Unfortunately, you do need to consume quite a bit to reap the benefits. Fortunately, our Sunny Citrus cold-pressed Juice is full of the stuff.
So there you go! Keep these tips in mind this Allergy Season, and hopefully your Spring days will feel even brighter! And worst-case scenario, just open up another bottle of PUR. That always makes us feel better.
