What's Cold-Pressed Juice?
Cold pressing is a decades-old method of extracting liquid from plants without denaturing enzymes or breaking down nutrients with high levels of heat or oxygen. Our process takes every delicious drop of liquid out of a plant while keeping its health-giving properties intact, producing a juice that is fresh and delicious!
By contrast, a more common form of juicing, centrifugal juicing, relies on a metal blade that spins at great speed against a mesh filter, separating juice from fruit and vegetable solids. This method not only extracts juice that that is less dense with vitamins, minerals and enzymes than cold-pressed juice, but the spinning blade brings high temperatures and oxidation into the equation, changing the juice’s chemistry and hastening its deterioration.
How long do your juices last and do they need to be refrigerated?
Our juices are freshly pressed from fruits and vegetables. They must be kept refrigerated and we recommend drinking them as soon as possible. Our juices shelf life is listed on the cap. Juices can be frozen for approximately 30 days additional shelf life. Please refer to product descriptions for shelf life information. Drink by date is labeled on the bottle cap.
Can Your Juice Be Used as a Meal Replacement?
We advocate “recreational juicing,” which we define as drinking cold-pressed juice whenever the mood strikes—instead of a typical morning coffee or consuming something unhealthy when you're feeling snacky midday. We don’t like to think of our juices as a meal replacement. We do not advocate replacing food with juice altogether—perish the thought! There is no substitute for insoluble fibre-containing, soul-replenishing food. However, if you’re looking to detoxify, break bad habits, and give your body a rest, you might opt to try one of our cleanses.
I feel different during my cleanse. Should I continue with my juice cleanse?
It is not uncommon to feel headache or queasy during a juice cleanse, especially in the beginning. Some people feel energized right away! Symptoms vary from upset stomach, to headaches, to flu like symptoms. Most people feel better by their third day of cleanse and often feel lighter and refreshed by the end of their cleanse!
If you feel you are too sick to continue please stop the cleanse and consult your physician if necessary.
If you stop before you consume all of the juices, keep the remainder in the freezer. Once you are feeling better, we suggest incorporating the remaining juices into your daily diet as a snack or meal replacement.
