What's Cold-Pressed Juice?
Cold pressing is a decades-old method of extracting liquid from plants without denaturing enzymes or breaking down nutrients with high levels of heat or oxygen. Our process takes every delicious drop of liquid out of a plant while keeping its health-giving properties intact, producing a juice that stays fresh for 3-4 days
By contrast, a more common form of juicing, centrifugal juicing, relies on a metal blade that spins at great speed against a mesh filter, separating juice from fruit and vegetable solids. This method not only extracts juice that that is less dense with vitamins, minerals and enzymes than cold-pressed juice, but the spinning blade brings high temperatures and oxidation into the equation, changing the juice’s chemistry and hastening its deterioration.
Are your juices pasteurized, treated, or HPP?
No. We use 100% fresh, raw ingredients and like our juice to remain that way. We do not use any treatments to help extend the shelf life. Period.
How long do your juices last and do they need to be refrigerated?
Our juices are fresh and alive and are not preserved in any way. They must be kept refrigerated and we recommend drinking them as soon as possible. Our juices shelf life range from 4 -14 days. Please refer to product descriptions for shelf life information. Drink by date is also labeled on the bottle.
Can Your Juice Be Used as a Meal Replacement?
We advocate “recreational juicing,” which we define as drinking cold-pressed juice whenever the mood strikes—instead of a typical morning coffee or consuming something unhealthy when you're feeling snacky midday. We don’t like to think of our juices as a meal replacement. We do not advocate replacing food with juice altogether—perish the thought! There is no substitute for insoluble fibre-containing, soul-replenishing food. However, if you’re looking to detoxify, break bad habits, and give your body a rest, you might opt to try one of our cleanses.
I feel sick. Should I continue with my juice cleanse?
It is not uncommon to feel sick during a juice cleanse. All of the nutrition you are consuming causes your body to go into a state of cleaning and releases toxins to be eliminated by your liver and kidneys. Symptoms vary from upset stomach, to headaches, to flu like symptoms.
If you feel you are too sick to continue please stop the cleanse and consult your physician if necessary.
If you stop before you consume all of the juices, keep the remainder in the freezer. Once you are feeling better, we suggest incorporating the remaining juices into your daily diet as a snack or meal replacement.
